The Dehhhhby.

(Note: please read this entire post in a British accent.)

Our ward announced we were having a Pinewood Derby. Each group worked on three cars together. There weren't any rules or restrictions besides the fact that each car needed to be gravity-propelled. Those in our group decided that we were going to go dressed as if we were going to the Kentucky Derby, which looks a lot like this:

Someone in the group had access to a red racing suit so we designated Tim as our official group racer. He was the only one authorized to handle the cars. We all decided to match him so we all wore fancy clothes in black, white and red. We snapped a few pictures on my phone, which is why the quality isn't that great.
Mikell was star-struck. Timmy played his part extremely well.
Upon entering the gym, we had some chairs set up near the beginning of the track and we claimed to have "box seats." All night we replaced our individual last names with "Vanderbilt" and we all spoke in British accents. When asked why we dressed up, we'd roll our eyes and in our most condescending tone say, "We're at the Deeeehby, we must dress up for the Deeeehby." We needed a group name for the competition so Frank thought of the name "The 1%" which was hilarious. After the deeeehby, we told everyone we planned on Yachting at Martha's Vineyard. Brian's private jet was waiting in the church parking lot.

We were determined to win in every category. We had hollowed out our speed racer and filled with with molten lead so it was wicked fast. Alexis, who is an incredible artist, painted our vanity race car. Then Mikell and I made the Mutt's Cutts car from Dumb and Dumber for the creative category.

Our speed racer's wheel came loose right before the speed race so we lost that one. However, we won "most authentic racer" with Alexis's talent and Mutt's Cutts won the creative category, which was retitled "Best in Show"- we couldn't have been more proud.

I had my tithing settlement right after this. My bishop's eyebrows raised when he saw my getup. I told him I wasn't sure what the dress code was for settling tithes and I didn't want to be underdressed.
